DME Licensure - the law in Georgia!

"While there may still be a few kinks in the application process, and yes we had to apply and pay the licensure fee for each individual location, I am still convinced that DME licensure is the right move for Georgia” states Tyler Riddle, CEO, MRS Homecare, and President, GAMES. "Licensing businesses that provide home medical equipment to patients in Georgia provides the highest level of protection for both patients and providers in GA.”

"Fingers crossed! We sent our package yesterday!”

GA Senate Bill 41 gave the Georgia Board of Pharmacy authority to license DME providers who serve patients in Georgia. CLICK HERE to review SB41, which is GA statute.

We’ve Come Too Far to Stop Now

These words come from AAHomecare’s president and CEO, Tom Ryan, as he offers a frank discussion on the likelihood of the HME-related Interim Final Rule that was sent to the Office of Management & Budget in August 2017 ever being released and where we stand with HR4229, the Protecting HOME Access Act.

In yesterday’s Wednesday in Washington, Ryan states that AAHomecare (and others in the industry) have engaged House and Senate leaders to advocate for getting H.R. 4229 language in the final Appropriations bill. However, there is much outside competition to be included in legislation such as this!

Ryan tells DME providers "it’s time to make a strong lobbying push aimed at decision makers on the House and Senate Appropriations Committees.”

In Georgia we have 2 representatives that are members of the House Appropriations Committee, Sanford Bishop (D-2) and Tom Graves (R-14). Both of these representatives are co-sponsors of HR4229.

Call Rep. Tom Grave’s office at (202) 225-5211 and Rep. Sanford Bishop at (202) 225-3631 with this message:

Please include provisions from H.R. 4229, the Protecting HOME Access Act, in the next round of budget legislation. This bill would provide relief for durable medical equipment providers in rural areas facing drastic and unsustainable Medicare reimbursement cuts and would also roll back unsustainable cuts for providers in all communities – urban, suburban, rural – who serve TRICARE and Medicaid beneficiaries. Without this relief, we’re at risk of losing an important part of the infrastructure that serves seniors and people with disabilities and helps lessen the need for hospitalizations and other costly clinical interventions.
