Join Home Medical Equipment Providers, Rehab Professionals, Consumers, and advocates from around the state at the Capital in Atlanta for our annual GAMES/GRTC Day at the Dome!

Registration is not required for this event! However, please email the GAMES office if you plan to attend.

Community Outreach Day 
GAMES Members Partner with FODAC in Stone Mountain, GA! 

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Every year, FODAC helps thousands of disabled adults and children in need who are uninsured or underinsured. With a strong network of volunteers and partners, FODAC provides refurbished equipment and services for these disabled adults and children to improve their overall quality of life.  

On Monday, January 30, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. GAMES members will meet at FODAC to help in the following ways: 

  • Power and manual wheelchair repair: GAMES members will assist in  inspecting and repairing used equipment to help those in need.
  • Medical supply sorting: mixed AT, DME, disposables, oxygen, and Thrift Store items need sorting to go to individuals, hospitals and other nonprofits serving locally and internationally.

Developing relationships across the care continuum is the goal of this panel presentation. This type of collaboration has never been more important to patient care outside of the hospital setting than it is today.  Ensuring quality in the partners we work with helps all providers improve their triple aim outcomes of lower cost, better outcomes, and improved patient satisfaction.

The panel includes healthcare leaders from Home Health, Hospice and Palliative Care, skilled nursing, assisted living, and more. (invited)

This course will utilize participant’s knowledge, challenging them in a game show format focusing on the following areas – Reimbursement; the CRT Industry; Manual and Power Mobility Devices; Seating & Positioning; Power Positioning and Electronics – to obtain and retain appropriate funding for the complex rehab technology products and services they provide.

This advanced level course is suited for for Licensed/Certified medical professionals (i.e. OTs, PTs, Physician, & Nurse), DME Provider staff, Rehab Professionals (i.e. ATPs, CTRS, & Seating Specialist), & Reimbursement & Billing Specialists

1:30 pm - 4: 30 pm Q-Logic 3 Evolution: An Advanced Programming Platform for Drive Controls  Credits: 0.3 CEU

Keeping up with changes in power wheelchair electronics is very important for the clinician and ATP working with consumers in the field. Enhancements in electronics can bring new levels of independence for a consumer. The Q-Logic 3 system has new enhancements that truly allow the electronics to be able to be customized to the individual significantly. This course will provide a hands-on approach to how specialty controls can be programmed with maximal benefit to the consumers that need these electronics. Clinical scenarios will be offered to assist with understanding the application of new features.

About the Speakers

Jay Doherty, OTR, ATP/SMS is Director of Clinical Education for Quantum Rehab. He has 22 years of experience working in the field of assistive technology with a concentration on complex rehab. Jay has earned his ATP and SMS certifications through RESNA. Throughout his career he has worked in both Rehabilitation and assistive technology environments with both adults and children. Jay’s current role with Quantum Rehab is to provide direction and leadership to the Quantum field sales team in the areas of facility development and to grow business within the rehab community. In addition, he develops and presents a variety of educational courses and ensures the Quantum Rehab field sales staff is educated on products and their benefits. 

John E. Gallagher is vice president of Government Relations for The VGM Group, Inc. in Waterloo, Iowa, the largest organization representing independent durable medical equipment providers. In his position, John oversees key government and regulatory affairs that pertain to the durable medical equipment (DME) industry. As a veteran of the home medical products industry, Gallagher has amassed thousands of miles, traveling across the country to educate both the state associations and independent providers on regulatory and government issues. Additionally, John has been conducive in working with independent providers and state associations to promote the DME industry, while advocating for beneficiaries’ access to quality care.

Blake T. Fulenwider was appointed Deputy Commissioner, Georgia Medicaid Chief, effective September 15, 2017. Fulenwider brings broad-based health care policy knowledge to his new role.

Prior to this appointment, Fulenwider was Partner and Georgia Director of Total Spectrum, a policy consulting practice that provided in-depth guidance to clients regarding federal and state-level legislative health care reform developments. He also worked directly with private sector clients and state officials throughout Georgia, providing critical policy analysis and guidance on a wide range of health care issues.

From 2006-2010, Fulenwider served with then-Congressman Nathan Deal handling health care policy issues in the Health Subcommittee of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. Fulenwider has also held previous roles with the agency as Deputy Commissioner from 2011-2013, and was the Healthcare Reform Administrator with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget from 2013-2015, providing budget and policy support to the Governor, Chief Financial Officer and senior staff.

Fulenwider received his Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.
