Rural Relief Legislation Garners 49 Original Co-Sponsors: Four from Georgia join the list!

From AAhomecare

Thanks to strong outreach efforts by the HME community, legislation providing relief for rural/non-bid area suppliers spearheaded by Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) and Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa) has garnered 49 original co-sponsors. This is a very strong number of original co-sponsors, eclipsing the 40 original co-sponsors for last year’s legislation on the rural relief issue, H.R. 5210.

The bill is expected to be formally introduced Thursday, and we will be looking for a strong push from the HME community to help generate additional co-sponsors and build momentum for the legislation, which will essentially roll back the second round of 2016’s bidding derived reimbursement cuts and also remedy rate cuts for stationary oxygen in rural areas caused by the application of an outdated 2006 budget neutrality offset.
While Members who joined June’s Congressional sign-on letter would appear to be some of the best prospects for co-sponsorship, we hope to broaden the co-sponsor list as much as possible. Additional Democratic support, as well as support from members of the influential Energy & Commerce and Ways & Means Committees, would be particularly welcome.
Georgia’s representatives who are original cosponsors include Rep. Sanford Bishop, Rep. Doug Collins, Rep. Drew Ferguson, and Rep. Tom Graves! Be sure to tell them thank you.

Action Alert for H.R. 3730 – Help protect CRT Manual Wheelchair accessories

Your action is needed this week to get your Congressional Representative to protect access to CRT Manual Wheelchair Accessories by cosponsoring H.R. 3730.

This year is quickly coming to a close and Congress is busier than ever. We need thousands of CRT stakeholders to write and call their Representatives to ask them to cosponsor and pass H.R. 3730, which would prevent CMS from applying Competitive Bid pricing to accessories used with CRT Manual Wheelchairs.

It will take you less than 5 minutes to take the first step! Go to the H.R. 3730 section at the prepared emails and talking points to quickly communicate with your Representative and get them to sign on as a cosponsor.

CRT Power Wheelchair accessories have been protected. Let's finish the job and ensure that CRT Manual Wheelchair accessories are protected too!
